Sussex Day Fete

Our first Southbourne Sussex Day Fete was organised by the Parish Council in 2009. It was held on the recreation ground.
An initial meeting was held in the previous October and local groups were invited to assess interest.
It was decided to proceed and as you can see from the pictures everyone joined in and it was a well supported event. The fete was held in June in 2009 and 2010 and in September in 2011. It was postpone in the June due to the weather.
It was held in September 2012 as June was very busy with Diamond Jubilee events.

There was no fete in 2013.
In 2014 the parish council were asked their plans and finding they were not doing an event, St John's Church were approached to see if I could do the fete in their garden.
In 2014 the fete was organised by me and held in St. Johns garden. We were entertained by the Emsworth Concert Band and there were 24 fundraising stalls from local groups. Cream Teas and refreshments on sale by St. Johns Church.

I did the fete for 5 years in St Johns garden 2014 to 2018 and as you can see it became a community occasion. In 2020 and 2021 there were no fetes due to Covid restrictions when gatherings were not permitted. In 2022 we needed something after lockdown and so held the Sussex Fete in St. John's garden.
